HI, I AM 23YRS OLD,MARRIED. WE ARE PLANNING FOR A BABY NOW. I HAVE PCOD . DOCTOR PRESCRIBED ME DUPHASTON FOR 10 DAYS AND SHE ASKED ME TO TAKE DURING 15-25TH DAY OF MY CYCLE. WE HAD RELATION ON 12TH,14TH,15TH DAY OF MY CYCLE. I HAD DUPHASTON LAST MONTH AND I HAD MY PERIODS REGULARLY. HOW DOES DUPHASTON WORKS? DOES IT HELPS TO CONCEIVE OR ONLY REULARISES THE PERIOD? I AM REALLY WORRIED ABOUT IT. PLEASE HELP ME..
Hello,
Duphaston is a progesterone preparation which helps in getting withdrawal bleeding if you are not pregnant.
It helps in supporting the pregnancy if you are pregnant, as it is the hormone of early pregnancy.
It will not help you to conceive per se.
As you are having PCOD, you are having hormonal imbalance which leads ti irregular ovulation.
So, you need medications for ovulation induction and ovulation study for monitoring growth of eggs.
You need to consult fertility specialist so that you and your husband will be evaluated for any other associated factor for infertility and treated accordingly.
Also, if you are overweight, need to reduce weight by diet and exercise.
Hope this clears your doubts.
