Positive Pregnancy Test. Spotting. Miscarriage? Need Another Test?
My partner and I have been trying to conceive for a while now. Last full menstrual cycle was on March 24th and my expected period was due April 19th (26 day cycle). My cycle is regular and always on time. On April 20th I took 2 HPT and both came back positive (both two pink lines). On the 23rd i started taking prenatal vitamins just in case and I went to the doctor and got another urine test and it came back Negative... The next day when I used the bathroom I notice pink and brown clots and clear mucus when I wiped. I took a different brand of HPT and it came back postive(faint but there was still a blue plus sign) For the next 3 days I noticed more clots but still not heavy bleeding and it definitely didn't look it feel like a normal period. On the 29th I took yet another test and this one came back Negative. Is there a chance that I could still be pregnant or have I misscarried? Should I still go in for a blood test?
If the initial pregnancy tests were truly positive and are now subsequently negative, it is possible that you may have miscarried.
As you stated to confirm this it would be best to do a blood HCG level which can detect even mild increases in this hormone. This is the hormone secreted in pregnancy.
You may also want to consider an ultrasound which would definitively show if there are any products of conception.
I hope this helps
