Post-op, TAVH Suffer Hot Flashes, Medically Induced Menopause. Is This Normal ?
Hello, I am 2 days post-op, TAVH (ovaries removed) already had a hot flash. I'm not sure what to anticipate, most women I have spoken with either tell me it was pure hell, as others tell me it was "just a breeze". However, only one 58 year old experienced menopause that medically induced. I just like to try and stay a step ahead...
Any information and/ or advice is much appreciated. AAAAAA
It is natural for you to feel concerned about abrupt menopause when you have your ovaries removed, but it doesn't happen all the time, and may not be severe as you might think. There are women who experience hot flashes during menopausal transition ie even before they reach menopause.
There are many choices for managing these symptoms, as simple as taking a balanced diet with more soya, vegetables and fruits and may be a vitamin supplement to help your recovery. The other proper medications will include hormonal and non hormonal preparations.
Generally after a major operation we avoid the hormonal preparations atleast for a week or two as they can induce blood clots in legs. But you can safely use the non hormonal preparations like gabapentin, venlaflaxine, fluoxetine etc. You will need a gynecologists advice and prescription for the same.
Hope this helps, take care!
