hi there im 16 weeks pregant today with my first child at the age of 23 and my husbanf and I went to get a secoind opion because my obgyn told me my babys legs and as are short for the baby and yesterday we went to get our secound opion and they told us the babys legs and arms are short an d they can not see the nose bone and that the baby has 2 cysts one on each sidd of its neck . what dose all this mean and could we still have a healthy normal baby
In fetuses with shortened limb bones, with additional features like neck cysts and absent nasal bone, the possibility of the baby having chromosomal, genetic or primary skeletal abnormalities is very high.
In such a scenario, I would definitely advise you to go for a procedure called amniocentesis, where the fetus is examined for associated chromosomal anomalies.
Please consult a geneticist / fetal medicine specialist, who would guide you for the same and perform amniocentesis for you.
Based on the results of genetic counselling and amniocentesis, plus other risk factors like your age, family history, other medical conditions etc, you could decide the future course of your pregancy.
Hope this helped you.
