Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

You must get the ultrasound scan repeated by another doctor soon and results need to be compared. Talipes is not a life threatening condition and can be treated in early life.

Further you may report to a fetal medicine unit regarding the possibility of any other minor or major fetal abnormality. Getting an abortion is to be done after you have been counseled about your baby and the outcomes of your pregnancy.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
You should consult your gynaecologist and take her opinion first.
In my opinion you should go for repeat level-2 ultrasonography to rule out any other abnormality in your child, if their only one abnormalities talipes right foot you can continue your pregnancy because talipes is treatable disease.
Rest your decision is uppermost.
Good luck.
Regards
Dr. Richa

General & Family Physician Dr. Vasudha's  Response
Hi,
Talipes is a congenital malformation of foot- where it looks to be internally rotated. It is a common birth defect detected in fetuses.
You have found in in your baby recently, and naturally are worried.
Please get the pregnancy checked in details by an expert(Embryologist) to exclude possibility of any associated problem. If there is none, carry on with the pregnancy without tension.
Treatment of talipes is done easily & satisfactorily.
- Nonsurgical method(Ponceti method)-is widely used now a days.
- Surgical method is needed in some cases.
The baby runs a normal lfe after either of them.
I hope I have cleared your doubt.
Thank you.
