Pregnant. Orange/brown Discharge, Discomfort After Urination. Kidney Infection At 21 Weeks. Remedy?
Hello. I'm 26 weeks pregnant with my first child. At 21 weeks I was ill and hospitalized with a kidney infection; the doctor said I could possibly have kidney stones but due to my symptoms (fever and vomiting) it was most likely an infection. I was given antibiotics and sent home after a few days. For the past two weeks I have had a horrible pain after urinating - not cystitis, but quite similar, it feels almost like I am still trying to urinate. I told my midwife at my last visit, she told me it was probably due to the baby. Today I noticed what seemed to be an orangey/brown discharge coming from my urethra. There is no visible blood in my urine and I have no pain and/or vaginal bleeding, only the same discomfort after passing urine. I am considering going back to A&E or would a visit to my doctor be more appropriate? Thank you.
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. The presence of a brownish discharge at 26 weeks is worrisome. This can be related to a vaginal infection or a low lying placenta. In case the discharge is persistent, it is best to get proper investigations done to find out the cause. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
