Pregnant. Rubella Igg Negative, Igm Positive. Ultrasound Report Normal. Worried?

I am 33 years old, pregnant in week 13, two weeks ago I did the rubella igg and igm tests, I got a negative igg result and the igm was positive, but they asked me te repeat the test.i did and still waiting for the results. We did an ultrasound for the baby today and everything is normal, the heart , the brain and the development of the baby also. I am very worried, what shall I expect?

Hello,
A positive rubella IgM antibody means a recent infection with rubella ( herpes virus ).
Infection of a pregnant woman with rubella, particular in the first trimester of pregnancy, may result in a high risk of fetal infection with severe complications. Congenital rubella is characterized by cataracts, deafness, congenital heart disease and other malformations that may occur singly or in combination.
In such a situation,ideal treatment is abortion.
Talk to your doctor and discuss with him/ or her.
