Pregnant, Facing Severe Acidity While Taking Iron, On Medicine. Can I Take Bio Combination?

Hi..i am 4months pregnant..my haemiglobin is 9.5..my dr advised me to take iron but while taking it i am having severe acidity and immediately puke after sometime..one of my relatives adviced to take bio combination no 1 for hb..she took during her pregnancy..can i also take it??i am already on hcg ,progestron inj.. calcium and ecosprin tabs.although rite now i ve stopped ecosprin and iron because of acidity.

Hi,

Yes, both ecosprin as well as iron have gastri irritatant properties. They easily cause gastritis. The effects are in a way reduced when they are taken after food.

Bio chemic no 1 seems like a homeopathic preparation. I am not aware if they would cause similar gastritis.

If the pain is severe, I would suggest you to try proton pump inhibitors such as rabeprazole before taking meals. Make sure iron and ecosprin only after food. That will help you tolerate these 2 medications.
