Hi,
The use of progesterone in pregnancy depends on whether it is absolutely needed as in expected hormonal deficiency states like PCOD, corpus luteum insufficiency and IVF procedures. I would not advise progesterone before the cause of the pain is known. The pain could be due to the expanding uterus placing strain on the supporting ligaments. Progesterone at this stage of pregnancy may not do much harm to the baby as such. Please take absolute bed rest, avoid lifting heavy objects and intercourse as well and follow up the pregnancy through trans-vaginal sonogram. Hope this helps.
