Pregnant Taking Susten. What Is The Drug Action?

Hi Doctor, My wife is carrying and the doctor asked her to take Susten 200mg. My wife is about 2 and 1/2 months pregnant. We have taken the Ultrasound report and it shows everything is normal. But doctor told to continue. We are yet to visit the doctor on Feb 7th, which is just after the 3rd month. What is the reason doctor told to continue this tablet as we found that this tablet is helpful to not miscarry ? please reply

Hi, welcome to HCM.
Tab susten contain hormone progesterone. It is necessary to maintain pregnancy. In first 3 months it is produced by ovaries. Then that function is taken by placenta.
I think your doctor has advised just as precautionary measures. There is no harm to foetus in continuing the same
You can details about follow up at next visit.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
