Pregnant With Dark Urine And Itching On The Body. Do I Have Cholestasis?

Hi im 38wks pregnant & the last 4 days or so I have been experiencing really bad itchiness all over my body but no rash it s driving me crazy my urine has also been a really dark orange colour close to brown I m wondering could I have cholestasis? My sister had with a couple of her pregnancies. I m seeing my dr tomorrow

Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy is definately a possibility.It usually presents with severe itching in the third trimester.Diagnosis is based on : history of intense itching with or without jaundice, no skin lesions (you mentioned no rash), and elevation of certain blood tests that would indicate cholestasis.It usually resolves after pregnancy.

Your doctor may consider mild antihistamines, if these are ineffective then alternative medication can be used.
