Prescribed Amerge To Get Of The Rebound Cycle While On Weaning Dose Of Percocet. When Will It Go Away ?
My neurologist believes I am in a rebound cycle and she is trying to break me of it. Firstly, she prescribed amerge to try to break the cycle as I was weaning off 10 percocet a a day. That didn't work once amerge was over. I receive a few painful migraines and was prescribed sumatriptan. This was this past week. Now, the other complication to break this cycle is that I quit the pain killers cold turner just under a week ago. I've had bad migraines almost every day since if not a heavy migraine. Will using triptans that much also cause a rebound headache, and when should I expect the narc rebound to go away? I am also taking my second does of topamax this evening.
It is not easy to top pain medications. Before they get better these headache can become worse. You may experience withdrawal sympyoms such as nervousness, restlessness, nausea. Usually they last for 2-10 day but it may last longer. Triptans can cause rebound headaches if you are using it more than 2 days per week on a regular basis. Triptans can also cause drowsiness, tingling starnge sensations etc. You should talk to your doctor if you suspect that you may have medication overuse headache.
