Prescribed With Birth Control Pills. How Should I Take It?

im about to start taking the pill for the first time. the prescription i got was Levlen ED and it has come to my understanding that i can start taking the pill between the first to the fifth day of my period. i'm currently on the third day of my period and would like to start taking the pill. do i start with the sugar pills or go straight to the active ones?

Hi,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic,
You want to start the contraceptive pill this is generally good way of contraception.
Tablet taking has to start on day 1 of the woman’s natural cycle (i.e. the first
day of her menstrual bleeding).
Starting on days 2 - 5 of the menstrual cycle but during the first cycle an additional barrier contraceptive method is recommended for the first 7 days of tablet taking. So you have to start hormonal tablet straight way(Active one).

The tablets must be taken in the order directed on the package every day at
about the same time with some water as needed.
during placebo tablet usually withdrawal bleeding will occur.
