Prolonged Low Grade Fever, Burning Sensation In Feet, Sore Troat, Fatigue. On Antitubercular Treatment. Alternative Cause?
i am suffring from low grade fever since january 10th 2013. My other symptoms are burning sensation in feets. The burning in feet is before starting ATT. Frequent sore throat. Frequent sinus congestion. Dry Cough. Fatigue and extreme weakness, 6 Kg weight loss i a month. I got tested for HIV(Negative), HBV(HbsAg)(Neg),HCV(Neg), Serum protein electrophoresis, ANA, pANCA, c ANCA. My Hemogram shows WBC elevated and low Lymphocyte counts. My CD4 count was 430 and CD8 count 350. I am taking antitubarcular treatment since last 2 and a half month due to a positive TB gold test. But fever still persists. Can there be some other conditions responsible for this.
In management of tuberculosis, Isonex one of most commonly used drug as ATT is known to cause neurological deficiencies. Your symptoms of burning sensation in feet, fatigue may be attributed to that only. To get relief you may try with vitamin B group preparations containing especially B1. Your other symptoms of low grade fever, fatigue may be due to tuberculosis only and it may take some more time to go. Sore throat may some time develop of patients of TB and many times it responds to simple anti-allergic preparations. If you are residing in India or any country with high incidence & prevalence of TB, to start ATT based only on positive TB gold test, is not a good idea. Kindly visit some chest specialist for review of diagnosis of TB.
