Prone To Strep Throat. Why Is Head And Throat Hurting?

Hi, I ve had a head ache all day and tonight, my throat started to hurt. I m very prone to getting strep throat , so I checked the back of my throat for white pockets in the mirror. When I opened my mouth, I noticed that I have a yellow, kind of hairy film on my tongue . I ve never had a yellow hairy tongue and I brush my teeth at least twice a day. Any ideas?

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding yellowish coating over tongue, as you saidthat you are prone for strep throat infection. You are nterested to know about facts for recurrent throat infections.

Firstly I would like to say that yellowish or whitish coating of tongue is basically due to-

1- Dyspepsia (gastric disturbances).

2- Upper respiratory tract infection.

3- Glossitis.

Your second question is for recurrent strep infection in throat, for this I would like to say, there is possibility of pockets of infection in upper respiratory tract which gives rise to frequent strep infection in throat . This shows that you may be having-

1- Chronic maxillary sinusitis.

2- Chronic tonsillitis.

3- Nasalpolyps.

All above harbours strep infection and discharges them from time totime. So please get yourself examined by ENT doctor to rule out above and manage accordingly.
