Purple Bruise Above Hip Bone. No Trauma. Tender To The Touch, Raised Area

My 16 year old is presenting with a 2-inch deep purple bruise on her left side a couple of inches above the hip bone . She does not remember hitting anything. It has bluish edges. Over time (6 hrs) the center is becoming less purple & more brown. It is tender/painful to touch and there seems to be a raised area or knot in a smaller but similar oblong shape in the center. She says this is new today.

Hi,
She must have developed insect bite hypersensitivity. It is due to some insect bite, which usually takes place when we are sleeping.
If not treated in time, it may further spread.
Look for the presence of sting at the centre, and get it removed it if it is present there.
She needs prophylactic antibiotics, antiinflammatory drugs, antihistaminics and oral/topical steroids. It will be better to consult a dermatologist.
