Hi ! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef, a
general surgeon answering your query.
From the history of yours, it seems to me like you have developed a
breast abscess which shows all the signs of inflammation including being very painful and tender to touch. This happens specially in lactating mothers, but could also occur uncommonly without it. Whatever may be reason, if I were your physician, I after examining you clinically would go for a mammography/
ultrasound to confirm my diagnosis. If the abscess is confirmed without any other associated pathological lump, I would do all the routine blood tests lika a CBC, Blood Sugar, and an ECG/
X ray chest depending on your age and plan for draining the abscess under
general anaesthesia which usually is a day care surgery. I will also sent the purulent discharge for a cytological and culture sensitivity test, and put you on a broad spectrum antibiotic till the report are available to decide on further management.
With this information, you can discuss in detail with your health care provider and go ahead. If needed, you can also take a
second opinion as well.
Thanks for choosing healthcaremagic for the query on your health. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
