Raised Mole On Shoulder After Getting Out On Hot Sun. Should I Meet Doctor?
I recently got quite a bit of sun on my shoulders afte a day out, I didn't burn but I do tan quite easily. I have just noticed a new mole on my shoulder that is raised. I am quite concerned as this has never happened to me before, and the few moles I have are tiny (like large freckles) and have been there since childhood. Should I be concerned and if it is cancerous, how long do I have before I should see a doctor?
I can understand your concern for the sudden appearance of mole after sun exposure.
There are certain important points in the suspicious nature of mole to get turned into malignancy. If a mole has asymmetry, if the borders are irregular, if the color is variegated, if the diameter is greater than 6 mm ( about the size of a pencil eraser) and if there is some pain or itching in the mole.
All of the above features are indicative of removal of mole at the earliest. You check out the features and can take decision accordingly. You can also send a picture and relevant details to get the best guidance on: bit.ly/drsanjaykanodia.
Take care.
