Random Coughs, Sudden Mucus Build Up In Throat, Brown Substance In Spit, Chest Pain. Advise?

Hi, I have recently been having these random coughs that come on out of nowhere, 1 to 3 at a time when it hits usually, for the last few days. This is accompanied by what feels like a sudden mucus build up in my throat. When I go to clear my throat and spit up, it's usually clear and light like a grouping of saliva. I just noticed, a moment ago, a very small brown like substance in my last spit up after I work up from sleep with a cough and slight chest pain.

I have recently come off having a partial flu about a week and a half ago (only lasted two days), but I also take three medications for blood pressure (which it has been mostly normal since taking them, and I have been taking them for a few months now). I do however have some moments of chest pain and headaches, though I don't know if that is my anxiety and/or GERD I was previously diagnosed with prior to my last doctor discovering my unstable blood pressure. I don't feel any heartburn, so I'm not sure. Whenever I do feel pain in my chest it's usually right below my left breast or top center of my chest, right below the collar bone. When I have headaches, it feels like its on the top left side every time with it sometimes radiating to the left side of my forehead and temple.

I know this may be several problems and not just one, but I am getting a little nervous. I unfortunately lost my job recently and have a two month old son. I don't think about it, but I'm a little worried it is something life threatening, but again, I'm not sure if that is the anxiety or not. I have not had any heart attacks, last tests I've had done in January stated I was okay outside of the blood pressure, but was told it was getting better and that it had become stable enough to exercise.

I guess my question or questions rather, are:

1) What could this cough and mucus be?
2) Should I be concerned about this single instance of brown stuff in my spit up?
3) Could all the things I'm feeling and showing right now be a sign of something more worrisome even though I've been told that I am getting better?
4) What actions should I take to resolve all of these issues?

Sorry for the long list, but I really want a second opinion about what I'm experiencing.

Good evening
Based on what you stated you could be developing congestive cardiac failure(heart failure).
You need to see cardiologist and yes you should worry about your condition.
High blood pressure affects your heart ,kidneys, brain and this why you have those symptoms.
Besides seeing cardiologist I would also recommend you to see counselor
