Rashes Near Waist, Dark Red Spots Surrounded By Lighter Redness, No Raised Skin, No Itching. History Of Bladder Cancer And Neo Bladder Surgery. Advice
Hi, My husband has had a problem with skin rash after bladder cancer last year (July, -12) He had his bladder removed and had neo bladder surgery,
The skin rash has gotten better with topical ointments, but has one rash about 2 inches on his left side near his waist. No blisters, just dark red spots surrounded by lighter redness around the dark spots. Thought maybe he scratched it and there was scabs forming, but the skin isn;t raised. Slight itching at the beginning, but after 2 weeks, no itching. Any suggestions? Thanks, Karen

He might have developed fungal infection.
Your description matches with this.
Usually it is itchy but can present even without itch.
Please get a KOH mount done,
This can confirm the fungal etiology.
Treatment can be with oral antifungals as well as with topical antifungals.
It is important to continue treatment for at least a month to get long lasting effect.
Please meet a dermatologist for exact diagnosis.
