Last night while asleep I had what felt like an electric shock to my heart. I don t mean my chest I mean my heart. I woke up feeling a little uneasy but returned to sleep without further incident. My family has a history of heart disease and was wondering if I should get this checked out.

Your symptoms are suggestive of Ongoing MI.Get an ECG,E D Echo,lipid profile,Troponin I,Complete blood picture immediately to rule out the diagnosis.I advise you to take Antiplatelets,lipid lowering drugs,anti hypertensive drugs b consulting your doctor.Get your blood pressure and heart rate monitored regularly.You may also need a Coronary angiogram to look for the size and site of block.Depending on number of vessels involved with blockage,treatment options varies.Avoid smoking and alcohol.Consult your cardiologist for expert management.
