Hello,

It sounds as if your doctor was treating for a case of viral pharyngitis. Sometimes such cases can persist for 1-2 weeks.

If you are having annoying headaches that are not migraines (i.e. no vomiting, no nausea, no light or sound sensitivity) then, I would recommend trying some TYLENOL according to labeling instructions which is generally 1-2 tablets every 8 hrs. or so.

If this doesn't sufficiently quell the headaches along with perhaps a warm compress to the side of the head and neck bothering you then, you should check once again with the doctor who may wish to take another look at things.

If the headaches are migraine-like in nature then, you should seek out a headache specialist as there are much more specific and effective medications for such headaches.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dariush Saghafi, Neurologist
