Reason For Intense Pain Below Ribs During Third Trimester Different From Baby Putting Pressure?
I m 36+3 with my 2nd baby, my first was born at 36+2, last night i had pain that were just as intense and every couple of minutes but it was below my ribs, the day before i had pink tinges on the tissue (maybe the plug loosening), I m worried what the pain could have been as it was completely different to when baby s putting pressure on my ribs.
Hi, Thanks for the query. Usually increased size of the uterus is responsible for this type of pain. As uterus increases in size with progress of gestational age, that will push the rib cage. The intensity can vary from pregnancy to pregnancy, depending on the size of the baby, amount of liquor etc. Other possible causes are gastritis, esophageal regurgitation etc. As you are having associated blood stained vaginal discharge also, better to rule out the possibility of premature onset of labor pains. So, if the intensity of the pains increases, consult gynecologist once and get examined. Take care.
