Reason For Numbness In Left Ear?

I woke up at around 5:00 a.m. today, and my left ear felt numb, but i could hear a little out of it. It's been about 3 hours now, and no difference. This is the first time it happened. Do I have an ear infection, or are there any massage techniques i can do to help? Also, whenever I yawn, it hurts. And I'm in the last stages of a cold.

Hi Dear ,

As per your query you have numbness in left ear . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like diabetes , ear infection , ear injury , peripheral neuropathy and sensory nerve compression . Migraine can also cause such type of symptoms . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper evaluation of the condition . Doctor may order CT scan , examine with otoscope , blood test and take history for trauma . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( gentamicin) , anti allergic , corticosteroid ear drops . Doctor may remove wax from ear . For now apply dry warm compresses to ear and keep your ear dry .
