Reason For Rough Patches On The Roof Of The Mouth?

Hi,
Recently I've noticed some rough patches on the roof of my mouth, I've researched and read many things, and was scaring myself... so I decided to look in the mirror to see what it actually was... It looks like white vein-y lines on the roof of my mouth... Do you have any idea what this may be?

It is very difficult to tell without having a look at them, so i would request you to upload a picture of the same.Also i would like to know whether u have any pain or burning sensation and whether you smoke or drink?
