Received Streptokinase. Angiogram Showed Residual Clot In Right Coronary Artery. Serious?
I had a near MI 23 years ago, received streptokinase, then the next day the angiogram showed residual clot in the right coronary artery. I was given TPA and told I had microscopic damage. Three years ago I had vague symptoms while riding my bike and had an arteriogram which showed 2 99% blockages in the same artery, covered with a single stent. My family care doc says I have inferior wall ischemia. I have always been very active, riding a bicycle, walking 9 - 18 holes of golf. On diovan and amlodipine for essential hypertension, and atorvastatin 30 mg. for cholesterol. HDL 92, LDL 99. BP under control. I'm about 10 lbs. overweight at age 68 with a BMI of 25.9. Other arteries looked pretty good 3 years ago. Am I in big danger of another MI?
Hi friend, Welcome to Health Care Magic The risk is there indeed! – especially with a past history / in spite of high HDL, controlled pressure and life style.... You should undergo catheterisation and coronary angiography with a view for possible intervention. It is the only way to directly ‘see’ the block, if any – and its location, extent, severity and so on. Coronary arteriography is invasive but it is the gold standard for this. The treating doctor may suggest them depending on need, based on his assessment of the situation
Take care Wishing speedy recovery God bless Good luck
