Hello thanks for asking from HCM

She is 69 years old and recently started remaining confined to self, she has become introvert. She has complaints of forgetfulness. Such type of symptoms can occur due to depression. Depression in elderly may present with complaints of forgetfulness. Other possibility is dementia. Both conditions can present with similar symptoms. I would advise you to consult a psychiatrist to make her exact diagnosis. MMSE or mini mental status examination is a good tool to find out cognitive decline. In dementia in elderly medicines like Donepezil, Memantin etc are used. For depression drugs like sertraline have excellent efficacy. Provide her warm support and visit a psychiatrist.

Thanks, hope this helps you.
