Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Haii Am Keerthi,We need a suggestion,my Aunty is suffering from depression, she always talks to herself & she refuses to consult a doctor.....we all are struggling a lot to convince her but she dose not agree that she talks to herself.....plzzz advise us how to manage the problem.
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. She is having symptoms like talking to self which could occur due to muttering. Muttering is commonly seen in individuals with psychotic disorders but can be seen in depression also. She is also refusing to visit a doctor and in such case you along with her primary caregiver can visit a psychiatrist for expert evaluation. Provide the doctor detailed history of her clinical symptoms. In some cases if a doctor agrees then medicines like Risperidone or Olanzapine can be given. These medicines are available in tasteless and odourless preparations and can be given by mixing with food. When her symptoms reduce with medicines then she would become agree to visit a doctor and her proper treatment can be started.
Thanks, I hope this helps you. Take care
