Recurrent Headaches, Feeling Of Bruised Head. Advice?

I've been experiencing shoooting pains on the right side of my head mainly. Its waking me up in the middle of the night and i massage my head throughout the night to get some relief. I eventually fall asleep & wake up with a massive headache & feel as if someone has bruised my head. I've had these pains in the past but not on a daily basis. It's been a week now where I experience this pain daily & obviously makes me anxious & not function normal. Another day of not going to work. Can u please advise?

hello,
Thank you for the query.

Unilateral headache mostly indicates migraine if it is associated with nausea, photophobia or phonophobia. And for that you need to consult a neurologist for further advice of prophylactic medication. For acute attacks take mild painkillers to get relief and if doesnt subsides you need to go for sumatryptan and the prophylaxis will keep you away from some attacks so its better to take that.
Thank you.
