Recurrent Sore Throat, Pain Above Voice Box. Help

hi, i have this sore throat that wont go away for a number of months at a time.Its not all the time but when it is,i have it for about 3 months or even more.Im really worried cause my father and my cousin have both had cancer .it doesnt hurt when i swollow,eat,drink or breath.Its just this annoying pain above the voice box,right up inside.please help

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Sore throat with pain above the voice box indicates Laryngitis that is inflammation of larynx due to irritation of vocal cords that causes pain and horse voice. It is usually caused by cold or flu, allergies, smoking or acid refluxes.
i suggest you to consult a ENT surgeon and get it diagnosed as soon as possible .
mean time at home treament can be done by using vapourizer ,drinking lot of water and keeping yourself hydrated, avoid smoking and areas of smoke.
