Recurring Swelling Between Anus And Scrotum. Surgeries Ineffective. CT Normal. Suggestions?
My 44 yr old son is currently in hospital due to swelling between anus and scrotum... he has had two surgical procedures and they can not find the problem.. About once a month an area swells to bursting and the pain is releived when it open up and drains! He has seen multiple Drs. They are always looking for anal issues, but he says it does not feel as if it comes from his anal area, but rather the scrotum area... He had CT of anal area today.. second one in one month and there appears to be nothing and due to scar tissue they can not see much.. just now he had an ultra sound to his scrotum... any ideas????
Hello Thanks for your query.Based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have recurrent abscess over perineum and could not be diagnosed even after doing CT scan etc. Have your Dr done radiological study called as Fistulogram? Fistulogram is done by injecting a radio opaque dye through external opening of fistula or abscess and taking the serial X-Rays.It helps in locating the entire tract and inner opening of the tract. Please discuss about this investigation with your Dr. Dr.Patil.
