Red Area Near Nipple. What Could Be Reason?

I am 54 years old and I woke up to find a red area near my right nipple

with what I've can associate as scare tissue from a biopsy. But I've never had a biopsy where this lump is. It's the size of a pea and seems

purple in the center. I looked for a puncture, thinking maybe a spider bit me but I don't see any. I had a mamagram a couple months back and a biopsy was taken on this breast but not this area. I'm concerned.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is understandable to be concerned but the most common cause of acute redness in an area would be some form of trauma.

Masses or tumors in the breast do not normally present in this way if that is your concern.

It is likely an insect bite though you cannot see the bite marks at the moment.

You can consider monitoring it for now.

I hope this helps
