Red, Itchy Bumps On Corner Of Mouth. What Is This?
Hello, I have noticed some red itchy bumps in clusters on each side of my upper lip, towards the corners of my mouth. They first appeared late Sunday night after eating funonions, which I eat very rarely. At first they seemed to be on one side of my mouth, but as the night went on, they appeared on the other side. They have not grown in size and have not seemed to go anywhere else, but it is now Tuesday evening and they are still there. I have never had a cold sore and have been with the same person for a year and a half now. I used a friend's chopstick on FridAy night, but wouldn't think that anything would appear this late or this early. Does anyone know what this may be?
Hello user, As per history the lesions are in clusters around your mouth, I think its herpes labialis infection clinically. The infection is viral in nature and can also be got without any sexual contact, like using friends chopstick who might have latent infection or drinking water from public places. etc.
You are advised to visit nearby General Physician to let him examine your lesions and start anti viral-drugs and some vitamins according to stage of disease.
hope my info helped you regards, Dr Hari Om Chandrakar MBBS

General & Family Physician, Dr. Lohit K's Response
Hi thanks for using HCM.
The red itchy bumps you are referring are due to allergy. It may be due to the food or due to saliva you got touched when you used your friends chopstick. This will disappear in time. But dont handle it as you can spread the allergens if present there. Just wash with soap and water.
You can Take anti histamine tablet like Tab Loratidine Twice daily and can apply calamine lotion to reduce itching and faster healing.
Hope I answered your question. Wish you good health.
Take care.
Regards Dr.Lohit
