Red, Itchy Vagina After Having Sex, Recurring, Not Having Regular Sex. Any Ideas?
I don't have regular sex, but when I do- like a few days ago, I get a red, itchy vagina. It was unprotected sex, but am confident it is not STI related. In the past I have been checked when this problem has surfaced and it hasn't been anything. This is a reoccurring problem, as I've noticed it only happens after intercourse. Is it simply irritation from chafing or something more serious? Is this a common occurrence?
There is often large bouts of no sex between partners so I'm not sure if it will go away with more regular sex/after adjusting to new partners.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Lohit K's Response
Hi, Thanks for using HCM.
Itching and redness could be due to irritation during intercourse. Could be due to infection also. Maintain good hygiene, better to use barrier methods of contraception to avoid infection and unwanted pregnancy. Hope I answered your question. Consult your doctor for further examination and management. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries. Wish you good health. Take care.
Regards Dr. Lohit
