Hi,

Your boyfriend's problem can be due to a variety of things. There is possibility of a kind of allergy, viral infection or some autoimmune conditions like Vasculitis etc. The problems on skin are little difficult to guess unless seen directly and examined. Please consult Dermatologist as there may be risk of complications if neglected.

Take Care!
