Red Sore Pimple Like Bump On Upper Thigh, Tender To Touch, Painful, 3-5 Red Squiggly Lines. Reasons ?
hi, ive had this red sore pimple like bump on my upper thigh for about a month. at first it had a white head like a pimple on it. all along its been sort of tender to the touch. this morning i woke up with it being really painful and maybe 3-5 red squiggly lines coming off of it, I tried to pop it, but just blood came out and made it worse. Should i go the the emergency room ?
Hi there,
I think at first it was a case of folliculitis(infection and inflammation of hair follicles ) but I am afraid it's converting itself to cellulitis( infection of the soft tissues of the skin) so it's better to see a doctor if not possible to visit A&E.
For the time being I would suggest to apply Bacitracin ointment on the lesions two times a day and Tablet Advil 400mg three times a day after your main meals.
A visit to a doctor is necessary because oral anti biotics are indicated in such cases apart from anti inflammatory and topical anti biotics. Try not to pick or squeeze them as there is a chance of cross infection.
I hope you ll find this answer helpful.
Thanks.
