Red Welt In Spine, Hard And Hot, Acne On Back, Itchy. What Is It?

Hi, Last night I noticed a large red welt at the base of my spine . It doesn t itch , but it does hurt. It s raised, red, hot, and hard--about an inch in diameter. Tonight, there appears to be a black spot in the middle of it. I don t usually get acne on my back, and I ve never had anything like this. I have had spider bites recently, but those typically itch, and this doesn t itch at all. What could this be?

hi , it could be folliculitis or a boil . since it is red hot and hard there could be underlying pus in it.there must have been some oozing at night due to friction ,dried to form a scab. u have not mentioned the exact size of the area ,if it is large u might have to contact a doctor to get it drained because it can spread to the underlying soft tissues and even bone.
If it is smaller in size then you do hot compresses, apply antibiotic cream like mupirocin .
oral antibiotic may be required.
take analgesic to relieve pain
a doctor consultation is advised.
