Redness And Painful Roof Of Mouth, Difficulty Eating. History Of Bumps On Roof Of Mouth. Suggest

About 3 days ago I had small bumps on the roof of my mouth (I could feel them with my tongue, but not see them). The small bumps went away, but it's still really red and it hurts. What could this be and is there anything I can do to speed up the process? It's also difficult to eat because it hurts and hot foods really make it even more difficult
