Redness In Left Eye. On Cromal Forte. Why Has Redness Increased?

Hi Doctor,
My daughter's age is 18 months old. since 2 days there is redness in her left eye.
pediatrician prescribed cromal forte 4 % w/v 2 drops 6 times for 7 days.
Yesterday and morning i gave the same dose.
I saw redness increased in her eye. So what should i do?
Do You want me to continue the dose or discontinue it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear...

The symptoms suggest that your daughter might be having Conjunctivitis.
It is caused due to allergic or infective etiology.

Management includes:
1. Artificial tear drops every 4th hourly.
2. Antihistamines to provide symptomatic relief.
3. Steroid eye drops to be used if it is allergic in nature.
4. Antibiotic eye drops needs to be used if it is caused by bacterial infection.

Since the redness is not subsiding even on application of the drops, it will be better to consult an Ophthalmologist & find out the exact cause of the symptoms.

Wish your daughter a speedy recovery.
Thanks & take care.
