Redness, Irritation, Scabs And Bruises On A Lump On Chin. Could It Be A Cyst?

Hello,
I recently started a new job and have no time off to go to the doctor. I am hoping to find some advice here. My bosses are very strict, I have requested time off and was denied until my first 90 days are completed because I do not have benefits yet.

I have a large (about pea sized, today it is even bigger) reoccurring "lump" on my chin. I've had three now in the last 3 months. The first one I squeezed so hard, it never popped, the area turned bright red, extremely irritated, and scabbed and bruised and after about a month went away. The second one, I read online could potentially be a cyst, I heated up my sewing needle and pierced my skin (horrible idea I know, I actually found even online doctors agreeing to do this). It bled a lot, and eventually went away again. Both leaving small purple scars.

Yesterday, the third one formed and in the exact same spot. Rapidly overnight it grew in size. This morning, it was twice the size and twice as painful. It is under the skin, easily irritated, and very painful to the touch. If I turn, you can see the lump in my profile. I researched online and only came up with cysts or abscess. It is not a pimple, it never comes to a head and not able to pop it. It is the same area on my chin every time. The area is only a little red but whatever it is- is completely under the skin.

I am trying to think of anything I've done that could affect my skin, I started a job in North Philly in June and am constantly walking through the factory full of dust and debris. I also began taking diet pills about 2 months ago and did notice I was breaking out more and more than ever before. I stopped the pills on Friday. I began birth control 4 months ago as well. I am 23 years old.

Hi,

I have gone through your complete query with diligence and after reading it I can make out the best possibility of cystic acne".

Acne or pimples are youth related problem and is not a disease per say. I can understand your concern for the same. Your age coincides with the occurrence of the same.

You can use clindamycin or clarithromycin 1% for topical gel application. There is no harm in using it. Clindamycin and clarithromycin gel are topical antibiotic gel and do not cause any side effects. This do not cause side effects in any age group so can be used very safely.

As a mainstay you need certain oral treatments depending on grade of acne. Do not take any other medications as can cause side effects in future and further complications.

Do not try to pinch or pop the area as can lead to further aggravation and secondary infection.
Take care.
