Redness Of Eye, Red Vessels Can Be Seen, Started A Week Ago. Any Ideas?

I have redness of the eye that starts at the inner cantus and almost all the way to the iris, red vessels can be seen, this started last week with my right eye and after 3 days it also happened on my left eye. It doesn't hurt, I haven't notice it until I look at the mirror. Should I be alarmed, a friend of mine told me that maybe its an effect of another disease on the other parts of my body. Could it be possible?

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
It could be only an inflammed pterygium or may be dry eye but I would ask you to see an ophthalmologist please to rule out other serious causes of red eye..

Radiologist Dr. Rajesh Pahwa's  Response
hi dear
thanks for choosing HCM

as you have mentioned you have no symptoms ,infectious cause is almost ruled out as superficial infections give a lot of foreign body sensation.

it is either an allergy to some allergen which could be a new cosmetic ,some seasonal plant nearby ,dust ,pollutant etc

there could be associated dryness also.dry eyes can be the primary factor also

yes it could be an inflammatry response of eye to an underlying disease in other part of body but one week is a too short time to plan for any investigation

what i would recommend you is instillation of anti inflamatory eye drops and ocular lubricantwait for 7 days to see the response

you can use nepafenac eye drops three times a day with systane eye drops two times a day

good luck
