Reduced HDL Good Cholesterol, Thyroid, Panic Disorders, Anxiety. On Atenolol. Advice

Hi, I am wanting to get off Atenolol for several reasons wich include.. it has reduced my HDL good cholesterol to 25, it is affecting my thyroid as well and my Adrenals are shot too, some fears it may affect my blood sugar, many things have changed in a negative way since being on Atenolol 50mg. I also take approximatly 1mg of Clonezepam a day to control Panic disorder and anxiety, could I switch to Cozar (Losarton) 25 mg safely to control BP rather than the Atenolol

IMPORTANT: DO NOT STOP BETA BLOCKERS (LIKE ATENOLOL) WITHOUT FIRST CONSULTING YOUR DOCTOR.

Beta Blockers (like Atenolol), as is true with all drugs, have multiple side effects like the ones you mentioned.
Paitents are usually advised to come for a change in drugs whenever they feel that the side effects have become intolerable.
If you want to switch to losartan you should first consult your doctor who prescribed Atenolol. Because he will be able to guide you the best regarding switching to another class of drugs. He will most probably order a test to make sure that your liver and kidney are functioning well before prescribing Losartan.
Finally, you should be aware of the possilbe side effects of Losartan; the most common being dizziness and vertigo (you will feel light-headed and feel the world revolving around you), other symptoms may include palpitations, headache, somnolence, insomnia, abdominal pain, constipation etc.
