Removed Deep Ear Wax. Ear Bleeding, Clogged And Ringing Sound. Time To Clear The Clog?

My doctor removed deep ear wax blcoking my ear drim last nigjt. He apparently cut my ear canal and possibly hit my eardrum . Long story short my rigjt ear began bleeding enougj to ru n out of my ear about an hour after the procedure. My ear is now clogged completely with dried blood and I have a constant ringing in that ear. I went back to my doc this morning and he have me antibiotic drops to prevent infection. My questoon is how long witj tjis clog last and wjen will this ringing go away? Any info is appreciated.

Hi,



Thank you for your query.



1. The ear canal is easily injured while cleaning deep ear wax as it is tortuous and not straight. Also the inner skin lining is very thin and delicate.



2. The healing time after a such an injury is 4-6 weeks. The dried blood cot takes a long time to break down and come out.



3. Usually such clots are not disturbed unless an ear drum injury is suspected.



4. The tinnitus (sound in the ear) may be due to the temporary conductive hearing loss due to the blood clot.



4. If the block and hearing loss persists after a few weeks, get a PTA (Pure Tone Audiometry) and an Impedance Audiometry (Tympanometry) done and share the reports here for further advice.
