Renal And Pelvic Ultrasound Showed Non-gravid Uterus, Echogenic Mass In Adrexal Region. Meaning And Treatment?
Hi my daughter is 26 yrs. old married & had a renal & pelvic ultra sound done and here is the result, uterus is non gravid. A large echogenic mass is identified in the left adrexal region, measures greater than 9.0 cm in maximal size it appears to be extrinsic from the uterus the right ovary is normal. The left ovary has not been visualized. No free fluid is seen, recommend further evaluation w/ MRI... what does this result means and is she going for surgery? Pls. help me Dr. Lundi I need more information about this result, thank you very much and God Bless.

WELL MADAM HELEN,
I think she is having a mass away from the uterus in the adnexal region.
This may be a ovarian mass or a tubal mass or any other adnexal mass . Well i am a bit worried as the the mass is liitle big of 9 cm. I think she need to be investigated. Please do a transvaginal doppler ultrasound of the mass which will give certain idea about whether this mass is benign or malignant.If the mass looks suspicious, please go for certain others blood markers. I think she would need a surgery basing on the further tests, and she can proceed for a diagnostic laparoscopy first and then proceed as per findings. good luck .bye
