Report Showed Hypoechoic Focus In The Posterior Myometrium. What Does It Mean?

Hi Doc! I just want to know the meaning of this: The uterus is normal in size, midline, retroverted, with smooth borders and homogenous parenohyma measuring about 4.36 x 4.97 x 3.62 cm. The endometrial stripe is echogenic measuring 1.23 cm. Hypoechoic focus is seen in the posterior myometrium measuring 1.6 x 1.3 cm. Is this mean that I have myoma? Thanks :)

Hi,
The sonographic findings suggest a mass in the posterior myometrium; fibroids are usually hyper-echoic. Very few fibroids are hypo-echoic. You will need further investigations like MRI, hysterosonogram, hysteroscopy and hysterosalpingography. Diagnosis is established through clinical and radiological findings, associated symptoms and the progress of the lesion. Please follow your doctor's suggestions for further management. Hope this helps.
