Sarcoidosis Flared Up, On Prednisone, Home Oxygen. Breathing Not Normal. How Long To Take Prednisone Before Adding Immunosuppressant?

I have sarcoidosis with quite a bit of scarring in my lungs. I had a flare up at the beginning of July and been on 40 mg of Prednisone and home oxygen since then. My breathing is better but not back to normal. Any exertion will bring my level below 90. My question is how long should I give the prednisone to work before adding an immunosuppressant?

Hi
thanks for your question.
I usually give prednisone period of 3 months to work if there no sign of improvement, then I start immune suppressant medications.
During this period I care fully monitor patients for other condition that may cause resistance to steroids.
Hope I answered your question.
