Severe Cough, Throat Infection, Running Nose, Medication For Breastfeeding Mother
Hi I have heavy cough (wet) since 2 to 3 days. Throat infection and running nose. Breast feeding is also continuing for my 13month baby.. Please suggest medicine.
You seem to be suffering from Upper respiratory tract infection. You need to start with the home remedies first, and if it fails, only then you need antibiotics. Try doing steam inhalation 3-4 times a day, drink plenty of warm water, use saline nasal spray 3-4 times/day; avoid coffee and hot and cold beverages.
If the above management is not beneficial, you will require antibiotics such as a combination of Amoxycillin and clavulanic acid or second generation cephalosporins, a mucolytic (such as bromhexine or ambroxol) and paracetamol to reduce the pain and fever. All these medicines to be taken only after consulting your doctor.
