Hi!
welcome to HCM!
One of the initial symptoms of calcium deficiency is muscle cramps. Muscles ache, especially those of the thighs, arms, and underarms while moving and walking around may be a sign of calcium deficiency.
For muscles to function properly, a constant exchange of sodium, potassium and calcium is necessary and magnesium helps in the exchange.A deficiency of magnesium can also cause cramps which are relieved on stretching.
Muscle cramps are not caused explicitly by a magnesium or calcium deficiency. they may also be caused by dehydration, potassium deficiency, pregnancy, thyroid disorders and certain medications. If your foot cramp doesn't go away with simple stretching ,adequate hydration and calcium supplements , consult your doctor to determine its cause.
hope this will help your daughter!
