Severe Pain In Back. Has Heart Block. Why Is Pulse High? Explain

Hi , My mom was hospitalized three weeks ago due to severe back pain which was progressing for about a week prior she went ended up in the hospital. The doctors determined that she had a very low platelets count (55), and water in her lungs. They thought it was caused by her heart condition (she has a heart block and she had a peacemaker installed 4 years ago). The doctors are now saying that her illeness is not caused by her heart condition. She had a blood cloth in her heart which is now trated with heparine. They are unable to establish the diagnosis. She is very weak (cannot lift her arm , not to mention she is unable to walk to the bathroom at all) and she is dying in our eyes ....we don t know what to do. She had series of tests and all of them came back ok. except for her blood test ... Her pulse is about 120, but when she tries to move, it jumps to 170.... One of her kidneys didn t work but now she is drnking more water, which casued helped and now she urinates. She is treated in Poland, nut (if this information helps) Also, few weeks before she stared having back pain, she was bruising very easily. Some doctors say that she could have some tye of cancer, but there were some doctor who excluded it as an option (her spleen and lymph nodes look normal). PLESeE HELP!!!

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

There are several issues involved –
Low platelet count needs further investigation by a Haematologist...
Fast heart rate in spite of a pacemaker, especially with water in the lungs - is an indication for anti-arrhythmic drugs / and extensive investigation as to the cause – Pulmonary embolism, atrial flutter or fibrillation, VT and so on

You have not stated her personal habits, family history, or co-morbidities, even age ...which could influence the diagnosis and outcome...
The treating doctor alone can suggest based on his assessment of the situation.

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
