Severe Pain On Lower Left Head That Travels To Forehead And Behind Left Eye. What Is This ?

I am a 37 yr old male. I am suffering from severe pain on my left lower head that traveled to my forehead and behind left eye. It's not as painful as the migraines I use to get. I haven't had a migraine for probably a two years now. These new head ache are more like tension head aches because the throb in the left side of my neck and pulse pain through to left eye. This is my second bout with these tension head aches. I had a stint for about 3weeks long about the same time last year. The only difference is that last year i wasn't drinking any alcohol. I was drinking instant coffee which with the combination of being soar from working out on a pull up bar is what I thought may have caused it. Well this year Ive been experiencing the same aches same spot but an hour after I've consumed 1 twelve oz of beer. I have an extensive drug abuse history, never got into needles. Furthermore I have a dog which is the love of my life, but has had a skin condition for the last 8 years of his life. I have taken him to the vet many times never to find a cure. Anyways the vet told me he has a secondary infection known as staph, primary infection could be dermatitis. No culture was ever performed to be sure, but my vet isn't just a vet but a professor at a well known college. I've read a lot of blogs and posts from many different sources. This is why I've entered such pieces of information. If house was a real doctor, what would he say doc?

Hello dear,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be due to:
1. Migraine
2. Cluster headache
3. Tension headache
4. Sinus headache (due to sinusitis)
5. Underlying systemic cause like Hypertension, etc.

Though symptomatic relief can be obtained with pain killers, unless the underlying cause is treated, symptoms will keep recurring.

So, kindly consult your Physician & get a proper clinical examination done.
Investigations like estimation of blood pressure levels, complete blood count, X ray of para nasal sinus & CT scan of brain will be helpful.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
